Soaring through the skies on silent wings is something mankind has dreamed about for centuries.

The SOSA Gliding Club is pleased to offer you the opportunity to experience the excitement and the tranquility that comes with motorless flight.

Almost any day from May to November, when the sun is shining, you will find an experienced pilot and glider available to take you, your friends or family members aloft for a 20 to 30 minute introductory flight into the magical world of soaring.

You, your pilot and glider will be towed skywards behind a powered aircraft. At 2000 or 3000 feet above the ground your pilot will release the glider from the tow rope and then you will glide gently over the beautiful countryside of Southern Ontario. Landmarks such as the cities of Toronto, Hamilton, Guelph, Cambridge, Brantford, and Kitchener-Waterloo as well as Lakes Ontario and Erie are visible on a clear day. After a thrilling flight that will provide a breathtaking view in all directions, you will land safely and smoothly back at SOSA's airfield, with great memories (and maybe some pictures if you bring your camera) that most people will recall for a lifetime.

SOSA offers introductory flights every Saturday, Sunday and holiday Monday from Victoria Day through to Thanksgiving. There may also be times during the week, and after Labour Day that we are operating but its best to check first by phone (519-740-9328) during these periods. The cost of a flight is $110 per person for a 3000 foot (approx 30 minutes) and includes all applicable charges and taxes. Flights are offered on a "first come first served" basis, so come out early in the day, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the outdoors. Please note that a due to aircraft limitations maximum passenger weight is 230 Lbs

For more than 50 years SOSA's pilots (all of whom are licensed by Transport Canada) have introduced passengers from age 8 to 88. to the exhilarating experience of motorless flight. Just make sure to bring some sun-screen, water and a hat, and we'll be happy to look after the rest. If the idea of learning to fly a glider has some appeal, it is also possible to make your first flight an "instructional" flight or we also offer a package of five instructional flights for $325 + GST. Please just mention this to the person you speak with when you arrive at the airfield.

For those who would rather make the experience of flying a gift for someone special, SOSA also offers gift certificates. SOSA also caters to larger groups for corporate or other special events such as corporate picnics, school class trips, birthday parties etc. To book a day or for more information regarding larger groups please use the gift certificate form, and include group details in the special instructions section of the form and we'll be happy to make detailed arrangements in advance. A group discount of $10 per person is available for groups of four or larger.
