Congratulations to Kim Winsor who completed her flight test and is now a licensed glider pilot!
The day started with overcast skies that scattered out around noon and provided a couple of hours of soaring until the easterly wind blew in too much moisture from Lake Ontario and the sky again clouded over. In total 19 flights were flown on Sunday including Kim's flight test.

Many people have asked when the club shuts down for the winter. In fact, we don't shut down. As long as there are people willing to fly and the runway is not too soft or not covered in too much snow we can fly. One year a group got together one cold February day and had soaring flights in the -14 C weather. Lift was 3-4 kts and cloudbase was 3500 feet. Everyone stayed airborne as long as they could handle the cold. So far in 2010 we have flown every month starting with the first flight of the year on the year on 1 January. Lets try to make it 12 for 12 this year.
