Us, nine to five office people, must have really upset the weather Gods somehow. For several recent weeks, we are teased by nice puffy clouds floating past the office windows during the week only to have the weather turn into overcast, rain, wind or some combination thereof as the weekend approaches.
Nevertheless, some bad weather can be flyable and overcast days with decent ceilings could be a perfect time to get the spring checkouts accomplished as instructors are available, gliders are plentiful (as no one can stay up) and there are usually a few tow pilots.
Overcast weather on last weekend in April did not deter those determined to get their spring and spin checkouts done or those who wanted to work on their bronze badge short field landing attempts.

The activity started slowly in the morning, but by noon the field was humming with activity. Both Juniors were doing 1,000 ft tows and short field landings. With the 505 still under repair, the Puchacz was in hot demand as people lined up to get their spin checkouts in it. Others used K21’s to accomplish their spring check rides. We had a couple of new members on the field and they had instructional flights. It was nicely busy for an overcast and windy day.
