Acceleration Week
Acceleration Week is a great opportunity for student pilots to reach their early gliding goals with a dedicated week of instructor availability before the soaring season comes to an end.
OverviewAcceleration Week is a great way for a student to reach some of their early gliding goals before our season comes to an end. The week is focussed on providing dedicated flight training for our students, usually near the end of the summer.
With the help from a few of our instructors the student can finish off areas in their PTR booklet. By doing so, they could be soloing in the K21 or advancing to solo in one of the club’s JR gliders. Possibly, depending on where they are in their training, they may be preparing for and taking their license flight test. All flights will be in the clubs two seat ASK-K21 gliders and our Puchacz as well making use of our Junior gliders if appropriate. |

"Having soloed recently for the first time, my instructor encouraged me that I was ready to take up a Junior. Myself and another student became quick studies on the Junior with the help of instructors. After a check ride in the Puchacz, there I was, flying a single seat glider that I had never flown before. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? The first flight was a 3,000’ tow and I did various exercises while in radio communication with the duty instructor. On the second day, after another solo flight in the Junior, an instructor taught me thermaling techniques for close to an hour in an ASK-21. On the Friday, my daughter was there and became another member's first ever passenger. What a great week!"
